  • The minimum age requirement for a PTC license is 18 years.
  • A valid class G or higher Ontario license is required.

  • Submit a Criminal Record Search that should not be older than 30 days.
  • Submission of Drivers abstract that is not older than 30 days.
  • For a new Private Transportation Companies license, you need to pay $23,136.00
  • For renewal of a PTC license, a fee of $23,136.00 is required.

Document Requirements

The driver must have the following documents with him:

  • Proof of your vehicle ownership
  • You must also provide proof of insurance. 
  • Along with this, Ontario Safety Standards Certifications are also needed. Please note that the Safety Standards Certificates are only valid for 1 year or 50,000 km from the last inspection.

    • If the operating name differs from the corporation name, you also need to register the business.
  • List of all the PTC drivers and vehicles
    • Requires full name and address of the driver 
    • Model and license plate of all of the PTC Vehicles
  • A certificate of insurance is also required. 
  • Display the name of the company that is to be placed in each PTC vehicle

The application for renewing or getting a PTC license will be rejected if:

  • The applicant was found guilty of a sexual crime against a minor or a person with disability.
  • Found guilty of any sexual crime in the last decade.
  • If found guilty of the given crimes in the last five years according to the Criminal Code section:
    • 84 to 117.15 (Firearms or Other Weapons)
    • 264.1 to 286.1 (Offenses Against a Person)
    • 321 to 378 (Crime Against Rights of Property)
    • 379 to 462 (Fraudulent Transactions, Wilful or forbidden Acts of Certain Property, Crime Relating to Currencies)
    • 462.3 to 462.5 (Proceed of Crime)
  • Applicant has been found guilty of a crime under these parts of the Criminal Code section, no matter when it happened:
    • 3.01 to 83.33 (Crime related to Terrorism)
    • i19 to 248 (Major crime against the Person)
    • 272, 273, 267, 268, 270.01 (Major Assaults / Major Sexual Assaults)
  • Found guilty in the preceding 10 years of the following Drugs and Substances Act sections:
    • 5 (Trafficking)
    • 6 (Import and Export)
    •  7 (Production)
    • 7.1 (Possession for use in production or trade)
  • Found guilty of a certain drug crime in the past five years.
  • Owe fines for breaking city rules, unless you show proof you paid them.
  • Found guilty of five or more certain city law violations in the past three years.
  • Were found guilty of certain vehicle related crimes in the past five years.
  • If found guilty of the following driving offenses in the last five years:
    • Careless driving
    • Racing or doing dangerous stunts on the road
    • Going over the speed limit by 50 km/hour or more
    • Ignoring a school bus stop sign or a police officer’s signal
    • Leaving after causing a crash without stopping
    • Driving when your license was suspended
